Actually some things would be tweaked to make it a video camera like the sensor and chips would be setup to try and reduce rolling shutters. If it was just for stills they would not think of rolling shutter.

They should get it though their heads but they suffer from feature creep, if someone else does it they should add it in. If they do not and come up around the same price people will just nag at them for not being so much cheaper with that feature.
