I *DID* see some news about the storms in Mexico, just after speaking with you last time.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I want to pay for and play finished games...hell, I usually wait several month after release so any patching up can occur. I personally don't really see the need to pay to beta test someone's product.

I'm certainly interested. I figured it would hit PC, most 360 exclusive Live content seems to come to PC at some point.

You had lots of storms this year? I guess our news feeds didn't pick up on that too much. Our country and the U.S. to the south had their share of deadly weather this year too. The earth is pissed with all the phones we throw away. :)

It will come though. You have to deal with environmental problems as they come. Change won't happen overnight, but if motivated by potential earnings, I bet you'll see electronics recycling sooner than later. These people are already in your neck of the woods. :) http://www.geepglobal.com/

First off, you can't tell people not to "back-pedal" in a discussion as if you have some power over people's ability to rebut. Frankly, it is rude and I don't know why you bother to have discussion with people if that is your attitude. People should be given all opportunities to clarify whatever statements you have

I'm in Canada and we are getting pretty well established channels for e-waste. In my city we have bins around the city that you can just take your old electronics to and dump them in and someone else will take them to recycle. We have battery recycling bins at most electronics/hardware shops now and there is an ever

I agree completely that we need something to help with decreasing e-waste, but I'm not convinced this is the model to do that with. I never suggested they shouldn't try though. :)

I'm not even suggesting to keep it until it is dead, but until it reaches the point that an upgrade will actually help you. Many people upgrade their phones almost yearly and just use them for email, websurfing, chatting, etc, etc. They aren't even getting any real tangible benefits from upgrading except for maybe

Sorry, you'll have to lead me more through your logic here.

Yeah, I see nothing to suggest it is cheaper, but I also don't think it is necessarily going to reduce environmental impact either. Manufacturing those modules, in the numbers and variants they want, is going to be more impactful on the environment than a standard smart phone. Each of these modules will have more

4 years out of a phone is pretty good though, especially a phone that really isn't much on the radar at all anymore.

It is hard to make a solid argument on an idea, but the way I see it, this phone could actually be more damaging to the environment.

I wasn't saying that you'd never need to upgrade, but the support for iOS and applications remain for several generations at least.

This!

Sorry, what?! I was in no way saying that devices don't become useless eventually, but I was replying to Kirk's tongue-in-cheek comment that your phone becomes suddenly obsolete as soon as the new models come out. This is clearly not the case, but sadly for many who see their phone as a fashion accessory to display

Yeah, too rich for my blood too. :) One can dream and hope for radical improvements in the marketplace to reduce the prices. :)

THIS!

And I see no reason not to upgrade if you can't run the things you want. Certainly the 3G is past its prime, but 5 years out of a phone seems like a worthy investment to me. :) And great attitude you have towards it.

Sure, but most apps run at least for the last gen devices if not further back. Apple isn't going to want to upset the cart too much making applications that only run on the current devices either...they have a nice thing going with the forward and backwards compatibility.
