6 bullet points? What?

“the moral of the movie was that random people matter just as much as Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.”
Screen time for Luke mourning Han Solo’s death? Nope.
Yeah, orange with green hair.. He’s unpleasant to look at. I doubt he’ll ever show up in a live action movie or show. Maybe the new cartoon, of course, but then I hope they improve his character model so he doesn’t look like a talking carrot.
Exactly. People that brush off criticism of TLJ as mysogynistic are flat out wrong. It has nothing to do with the gender of the characters, the movie is just riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies, not to mention the fact that a huge chunk of the movie (Canto Bight) is worste than anything in the prequels.
I can make a whole list of unforgivable mistakes in TLJ. It’s not about being annoying fans. It’s just that it’s a plot hole riddled self hating nonsense garbage fire of a movie. Note how The Force Awakens (the first “new”) movie was manifestly not met with the same level of vitriol.
Yep, which is amazingly stupid. They went out of their way to point out it is utterly pointless and only there to look cool.
It’s because Rian Johnson doesn’t understand Star Wars. I’d go as far and say he actively dislikes it and is on a secret mission to destroy it from within, but would mean letting the hatred flow through me. I try to keep it contained.
What’s that from?!
Some much needed context:
Indeed the comments here and on other websites are were one can find a more nuanced debate about the merits of the movie. It’s the uniformly stellar praise from the actual (countless) articles on io9 alone that befuddles me. And it’s by no means on io9 alone: BP is now the best reviewed superhero movie of all time on…
It’s funny you should bring up that scene from Matrix Reloaded, because that’s the exact comparison I had in mind. Both that scene and the climactic fight in BP are just weightless, rubber-like cgi figures flopping around and mashing into each other, lacking any kind of impact or heft. I stand by what I said about the…
Nope, I love the MCU. I didn’t say it was the worst cgi ever, but there were definite dodgy cgi bits that, combined with Coogler’s less than stellar directing, made for some disappointing action scenes. The part in the beginning with the mercenaries for example was way too dark, and had too many jump cuts.
This is all fine and dandy, and of course a lot of stuff was really great, but the painful truth is that a considerable amount of cgi in some crucial scenes in Black Panther was abysmal. Like, laughably bad.
That’s freaking awesome!!
A question I always had about Kira, even as a kid: why the hell was she allowed to command the Defiant? She’s not Starfleet! It makes zero sense in universe.
“Luke mourning Han’s death damn well should’ve been in the film.”
I remember io9 before the exhausting outrage and clickbait. I’m still here solely because I haven’t found a suitable replacement yet, which makes me sad, because I’ve been checking io9 literally every day since like 2008. I just can’t be bothered anymore with the faux outrage over every. fucking. thing.
Why on earth can’t we just get the 2018 version of that?!
