If we count the "main series" I'd say the OT and Force Awakens are fine. People looking at Star Wars for stellar plots are surprisingly odd to me. I prefer the series as a special effects show case personally.

I personally had to take a break sometime around season 5, I feel like the rest of the characters all became Charlie. I don't mind that now, but you have to mentally prepare for that sort of thing.

The Harry Potter books "age" as you go though. I'd call the first two books "Children's Books" three is definitely a YA novel, and four, things go to shit with Edward Cullen dying and we're in the darker end of the YA category until the end.
