The problem with your logic is that you assume Nintendo doesn’t want to make them again. There’s a million reasons they aren’t at any given time, maybe the demand for that game isn’t there, or there’s a copyright issue they need to untangle first. By allowing people to use an emulator, you devalue any future sales if

First, you don’t want cops shooting people, and now you don’t want them running them over, too? If you keep boxing them in like this, they’ll have nothing left but to actually do their jobs!

This is attempted Murder. End of story. Unless the moped rider was shooting at people or endangering others, there’s no excuse for this behavior. The cop needs to be behind bars.

Accessibility is vital. For each The Name of the Wind, there’s a faintly disguised LoTR fanfic being cranked out with 17 prepositions to every noun. While prose is important, fantasy is built as a platform for imaginative stories and unique ideas. Don’t get me wrong—prose makes or breaks a story—bad prose can tear

LexW you’re coming across a lot more angry and toxic than the person you replied to. It’s jarring to read.

You realize this is the kind of thing betas are for, right? Everyone spouting about “resources” about beta are kinda missing the point. Shocker, a company doesn’t want to spend massive resources on... a beta test.

On the one hand, it’s refreshing to have people be upfront about their pricing - sales are a form of psychological manipulation, minor as it may be, and I appreciate the honesty of saying “This is the price, you can buy it or not, but I’m not gonna jerk you around or play games with you”.

Again, the weird thing isn’t that this game costs $35. The weird thing is that the developers raised its price after it being out for almost 7 years. Raising a game’s price after its release is very unusual.

Exactly. If you already own a thing that is a one-time purchase, future price increases are not your problem.

Honestly, their annual revenue would increase far more if they would just discount the game for the big sales. Companies don’t offer discounts for fun. They do it because it brings in more revenue. At a certain point, you’ve already sold the game to everyone willing to buy it at full price. Factorio has been out for

Whether or not the price hike is justified the dev of Factorio is a psychopath.

Players (that presumably already bought the game) are fine with the price increase. That tracks.

I dont know if I’m for or against this. I mean, a game this old shouldn’t be getting an increase, you cant just coast on 1 title and expect to keep making good money on it. But at the same time it is a smaller dev, so I get it.

But, the game already exists. Its not like its being developed during inflation.

Is this a game that gets regular updates or requires servers to play on?

I mean, $5 is no big deal for most people, but there’s also a lot of “we’re charging more for ‘inflation’” right now regardless of actual costs going up because we can.

Not saying it is the case, but I’m very understanding of people who might get

No, I think I understand their point. The demand curve for any normal good is a slope; demand goes up as price goes down. They’ve decided that the revenue under the long tail of the curve isn’t worth their time.

Instead of playing devil’s advocate, go read the investigative reporting on the game’s development, and understand why everyone is EXTREMELY skeptical it will be anything but an immediate flop.

just ignore it and it’ll pass over time”

People aren’t “looking for reasons” to be angry. People are rightfully angry over transphobia, and this game is based on the franchise created by one of the world’s most visible transphobes. And fuuuuuuuuuck you and your stance of “ignore it and it’ll go away”. That’s not how social change works. The trans community

Theyaren’t fun for *you.... I’m old and I find it incredibly fun to immerse myself into elden ring before bed every night.... yea it is sort of hard, and yea you die.... but they make it so that those deaths don’t set you back terribly much....

If you find it to be a frustratingly difficult slog then the game isn’t for you. A lot of people do not find them frustrating or difficult, or find the difficulty to be a positive rather than a negative. Games are meant to be fun, if you’re not having fun, then why play?
