This makes me think of when the Shitty Media Men list was decried as #MeToo overreach. Any way women try to stay safe and keep other women safe doesn’t matter because the old boys club can spin things any way they want. I feel like this won’t even be remember in 10 years.

The Buffalo News reported in August that this judge ordered reporters not to use Belter’s name even though it had been used for years in stories about the charges and the case.

There have been a few suits filed against the mom and step dad.

I remain absolutely gobsmacked that judges in your country can openly (and proudly!) proclaim that they actually consulted jeezus for legal advice, and still keep their jobs.

There was that one judge who let one go without a sentence, and then was forced to sentence him (and re-arrest) because it violated the minimum sentence guidelines.

“Police say Belter’s mother, stepfather, and an adult family friend provided the alcohol and drugs to teenage girls at the parties, to “groom” them for sexual assault by Belter.”

Yeah, but civil suits don’t protect other young women from him. That’s the thing - he now knows he can rape four teenagers and get away with it. I generally don’t believe in prison-as-warehousing, but he’s the reason I reserve the right to make exceptions to that belief.

Can’t appeal, but they can file a civil suit against the family, esp. as the creep is from a wealthy family who enabled him. I hope they can find pro bono lawyers to take it on if for no other reason to keep this case in the public’s eye.

God forbid

I agonized. I’m not ashamed to say that I actually prayed over what is the appropriate sentence in this case, because there was great pain,

God forbid that a rapist should experience negative consequences for his actions.

Look, guys, he prayed on it. I mean, if you can’t trust the voice of the invisible sky god who speaks only to you where no one else can hear, who can you trust? Psychiatrists? Traumatized victims? The smirking unrepentant face of the serial predator himself in his mug shot? No. Praying is the only way.

So when cops and DA’s complain that women won’t report rapes or testify, maybe they can direct their anger to bullshit like this. 

YES!!  My boss did that one year!  His GF owned a high end spa and everyone including the men got a $25 gift card. The cheapest thing on the menu was around $60 if I recall. I never used mine.
