I'm so excited for this, the demo ruled!

Only vaguely related, but: am I the only person who just doesn’t ‘get’ high framerates? Like, sure, I can tell the difference between 10 and 30, but 30 to 60 is more or less negligible, and 60 to higher is damn near imperceptible to me (as a difference from 60, I mean - I’m not implying that I somehow lose the ability

None at all, according to the devs. 🥳👍

Easy route? Ah man, tell me you don’t know anything about game dev without telling me

Functionally identical from the outside but man, oh man is it so much dumber. Also an indictment of the intelligence of the FIFA community.

Its funny until you realise that this guy who has such obviously poor judgement IS A FUCKING TANK COMMANDER in real life.

should’ve copied it and put it all out on the internet to help revolutionaries worldwide resist american imperialism

Are they even taking a hit? Are they selling the first run at a manufacturing loss? And actually, yes, some companies totally consider small margins not worth it.

The capitalist apologist has logged on folx

They make hundreds of millions a day simply by existing.

That’s fair, but the 30% cut is an easy generalization that applies to basically everyone, since those deals being cut don’t apply to the vast majority of games on the platform.

I agree with what you’re saying but I’d just like to add that 30% is a fair generalized number for what Valve takes but it also isn’t accurate. I can’t say exactly due to NDAs still being active but they will cut various deals if they choose to give a shit about you/your company or your product. It’s not a massive

I very much doubt that the day I bought my Index I accounted for 10% of Valves daily intake. Even without looking at the data it should be clear that the daily figures grossly exceed $10,000.

There’s literally no way they make a paltry 10k a day. They still take a 30% cut of every single game sold on Steam. There were over 10k+ games released on Steam last year, with new games being added to the platform every single day.

The math is super simple. If they’re only making around 10k a day, that means that

I don’t know if I want one, I’m wary of Valve’s hardware endeavours after the Steam Machine was born and then died.

I’m not sure where you got your numbers because they got like 4 billion that year. That’s be a little over 5k a minute.

Yeah, the only stats I can find say in 2017, they made $4.3 billion in revenue. Even if that’s raw sales, and Valve only keeps 30% of that, that’s still $3 million/day. Would love to hear where that $10k/day figure comes from. Maybe that’s just Gabe’s cut.

From where are you getting these unreasonably low numbers? Because I’ve read around 3-5 billion revenue a year, which would mean 10 million a day.

Yeah, the fact that he’s even half-bitching about it is just insulting.

10 thousand dollars a day? So Steam, a company run by 200 employees, and owning a massive office in the middle of Bellevue, with around 200 million active users is making about the same everyday as your run of the mill Olive garden location?  Can you link this pearl of wisdom you found this from?
