I don't think the relationship is anywhere near that intrinsic. The PS4 has its own social networking independent of Facebook. It just has an auto-share Facebook function added, much like the PS3 did. The options are more robust this time around, though.

It's an utterly fantastic design. I got one early, and the rubber feet are unusually large/"expensive." The feet are curved and centered on purpose. It makes the device more stable on the edge of a table or entertainment center.
