I've been playing this on the Steam Deck and I forgot how fantastic it is, just so well thought out. Also, on the Deck it runs fantastic at max settings maintaining 60fps quite well.

I can’t imagine that they will ever make a profit off VR. At some point some kind of AR/VR glasses will be the next big thing (if they can be made to work well and be comfortable and fashionable) so they’re trying to situate themselves in the industry as a leader once it happens.

I would doubt that this will succeed, the barrier for entry for VR Fitness Apps is very low, even though Meta would own the top apps for that category it wouldn’t take much for anyone to make their own that could be an equal or better app.

It takes quite a bit of time just figuring things out. You can look at most games half way through development and they are vastly different from what the game ends up being. The fact that they have a mostly complete story alone would save a ton of time.

Having the existing game probably saves like 1-2 years of development. Ultimately stuff just takes time. FFVII will probably be at least 15 years of development to get fully released, but this is something that’s not nearly as big of a game so it should be within reason to be done given that the developers are

Gameplay is not just combat though. Technically everything is going to be changed not matter what, it’s just how long does it take to get to what they decide is the final design, and having anything at all will cut some development time.

It should ultimately be easier than making a completely new game from scratch. They have a story, gameplay, and designs to start from.

It’s really common for studios to lay people off after projects, many roles aren’t needed until later in production so a project like this would be something they could quickly get those kind of developers onto since there wouldn’t be a long period of preproduction like a whole new project would.

Very likely they would just steal Unity or Unreal and “rebrand” it. They already have a new law in effect that allows Russians to use software from foreign companies illegally if they’re from a country that has sanctioned Russia. Look to what they’re doing with McDonalds.

It should be clarified, Unity did not buy the VFX company Weta, they bought just the R&D part of the company. The main VFX company was not part of the deal and they’re still doing lots of VFX projects.

They are massive right now in tech, any 3D mobile apps or AR/VR is likely done in Unity along with many popular games. They used to be associated with shitty games due to how the engine was not super advanced, but that’s become an advantage for things that need to run well on less powerful devices like mobile and

I kind of doubt that they did full testing of this Switch port of the game, I’m sure they assumed that the game functioned and they just needed to make sure the technical aspects of making it run on the console would be done rather than testing out everything in the game like you normally would for a new release.

Being realistic often doesn’t translate into a fun game. I’d much rather have a few ultra detailed locations than many generic and sparse ones. Also consider this, you know for sure that some portion of those 1,000 planets are going to be more than just places to mine resources, do you really want to spend time going

That’s exactly how I feel--unless they can fill those 1,000 worlds with interesting things then who cares about having such a large game?

I’d put Part 1 on my list of favorite games, so I’ll definitely appreciate anything that makes it even better. That being said, I wouldn’t have expected/demanded a remake like this so I don’t think it’s really necessary at all but I’ll still go ahead and get it and enjoy it.

It’s amazing how these projects have absolutely zero appeal as an actual game. And they compare it to Fortnite and think it could be just as big? Like could you imagine some 10 year old Fortnite kid buying crypto?

I think given that the other stores have plenty of exclusives that aren’t available on Steam that might be a big point against this case.

I’m not sure there’s really that much difference in the auto exposure settings, the camera in Unreal is designed to simulate a real camera and for the auto exposure settings the only thing I can think that would be different would be how it does the metering to determine the exposure level for an image which would

It certainly would be due to issues getting the quality they want, they probably weren’t happy with the graphics performance that they were getting and decided it wasn’t worth the effort to get it to an acceptable level.

It can be complicated to make a game on multiple platforms, they might not want to compromise their vision for some features to get the performance they need on old consoles.
