John Kerry wails in despair.
John Kerry wails in despair.
“Mister President, we’ve lost the Swift Vote!”
Or maybe too many of us have seen where this nonsense leads. 2000, 2004, 2016.
Anything to depress the vote. Trump is a literal fucking fascist but eh...we’re not super excited about the Dem choice. So, you know, guess we’ll stay home and watch the downfall of America.
I am not in a bad mood and this annoyed me as well. This is not the time to look for the absolutely perfect candidate. This is near-literal do or die time.
But it’s tough not feeling somewhat alienated by the intense meaning-making of Harris’s candidacy, especially after the presidency of Barack Obama. The Obama years were enough to transform me from a giddy 18-year-old willing to freeze outside in January if it meant witnessing the inauguration of the first Black…
Respect your right to speak your truth. But you will find for a lot of black women like me it is all pride. No ambivalence or mixed feelings here. The problem with articles like this is with your platform this is amplified like it is the general feeling. Meanwhile my friends and I are bingeing on the joy of this…
I like this comment. Why does Kamala have to be perfect for this to be inspiring? She is far from perfect, which puts her in the company of exactly every politician ever. Still something to cheer.
I feel like we’re going to be reading versions of this word salad regularly between now and election day.
I am so tired of these stupid purity tests that are specifically targeted at women candidates. If you want Trump and friends to kill more Americans, then just say it alrrady.
I’m sorry. Maybe I’m in a bad mood (in fact I know I am), but what even is this about? I don’t understand how, as a Black woman, you can’t be completely excited about her nomination. I am a Black millennial who cried actual tears (!) when I voted for Obama in 2009 because I never thought I would see a viable, Black…
What the fuck is this, even?
I honestly can’t tell if this is satire or not
Couldn’t*
Is it clear he’s actually hitting on him? Those conversations were extremely boring.
She (Ashley Reese) was challenged on this by a reader and her response was to essentially say that Jezebel isn’t a legitimate publication and that they can’t be sexist because some of their best friends are women.
I’m just not buying this. Biden won the primary, committed to selecting a woman as his VP, then did. There were legitimate female candidates in the primary who all received fair media coverage and they just didn’t get enough votes. How is that the fault of “the patriarchy”?
It’s good that you cite that specific article on the “messy spectacle” as it and others like it in the press are where said “spectacle” exists-- in the minds of vapid journalists who love to cast things in a sexist frame.
Also, he was an adjunct. That might be a whole different set of rules and regulations.
