Amazon doesn’t own Reddit. From the Wikipedia article for Reddit:

Of course—mods do a ton of work for no pay and can rightfully walk away if they want to.

I understand if the moderation tools are better on the third-party apps than Reddit’s main app—that’s a reasonable complaint—but not one that resonates greatly with the broader user base. The way this boycott’s being handled makes it less likely that those complaints will be addressed, not more (IMO at least).

I get that, 100%. The API fee is exorbitant and it’s obviously meant to ice out the third party apps, but at the same time it’s 100% within Reddit’s rights to control the manner in which their product is used/displayed, especially when revenue is a factor.

The more I hear about this blackout, the less supportive I become. One mod for a subreddit I follow wrote a lengthy “call to action” post that boiled down to “Reddit used to encourage third party app development, but now it doesn’t. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD TO OPPOSE THIS GRAVE INJUSTICE!!!”

The coffee frap or espresso frap are pretty much the only blended drinks I’ll get at Starbucks. The others are too artificially sweet and have milkshake-grade calorie counts.

The Terminator and The Matrix are pretty much the definition of “diminishing returns” when it comes to movie franchises, but I think a strong case could be made for continuing either or both as streaming shows. The Sarah Conner Chronicles makes the case even stronger.

Probably by forcing the (non unionized) effects artists to work on even tighter deadlines.

“Yes, I totally have a new CEO. You don’t know her, she’s lives in Canada.”

The mini-arcs work really well. Episodes 1-2 can feel a little slow, but episode 3 makes it all worth it, and the other arcs work even better.

He’s defending Feinstein’s decision not to resign. I don’t know or care what votes he’s missed.

It’s not too late to resurrect Quickster!

Initially I wondered if his MCU steroid regime had some nasty side effects, but word is that he’s been an abusive nightmare to work with for years.

I’m in the grays here, so no one will see this, and maybe it’s for the better because I hate this smell. Hate it, hate it, HATE. IT!

DeSantis may have proved himself an unreliable commodity with the Disney feud, though. He’s demonstrated that he will 100% turn against any donor with the full force of his office (and then some) if he thinks it’s worth the potential updoots from his base. There are more reliable presidential candidates out there who

A year ago, I was legit terrified of DeSantis becoming president in 2024, but his determination to go hard right on culture-war issues while making embarrassing gubernatorial gaffes make him seem way less competent as a national candidate.

Speaking of Senators who probably don’t want to draw too much attention to their own age:

This is like if the crew of Star Trek Voyager made their way back to Earth at the end of the second season, and then they were just hanging around processing that time they got lost in the Delta Quadrant.

I believe that’s what Gandhi said shortly before launching the nukes.

I guess the difference was that seasons 1 and 2 were about Grogu—getting him away from the Empire and then finding the Jedi—and season 3...isn’t. Which shouldn’t be a problem. If anything, it reinforces that his role on the show has always been to provide the cute factor and occasionally save the day with the Force.
