As a Fresno resident...I don’t think most people (other Californians included) realize that it’s an actual city, and not just a place to get a Starbucks refill on the way to Yosemite.

Those narrow, curvy, two-lane highways are challenging enough when I’m driving. I can’t imagine letting a self-driving car (as they currently exist) drive me through it. So many road obstacles and hazards that could be misinterpreted by the software.

I agree, but also thought that the biggest constraint on the third film was the unexpected loss of Carrie Fisher and the subsequent decision not to rework the end of TLJ to account for her passing.

That was my thinking, too. The FO had also just lost Starkiller Base. Losing Snoke’s ship (which was apparently their command center and shipyard) and a bunch of other big ships seemed like a game-ender for them as well.
