As someone who lives in the area and is familiar with the Grizzlies, I’m reasonably confident this was just a fuck up and not intentional.

If he doesn’t work out, they can always reshoot with Christopher Plummer.

How disappointing. Madame Tussauds usually does a better job on these statues.

Yeah, I’m familiar with the Grizzlies as well and I doubt this was intentional. They’re one of the organizations trying to bring in more business to downtown Fresno (particularly a younger crowd) and going political is suicide for that effort. Someone fucked up with the video choice, that’s all.

There’s some leaked footage of the new uniforms in Picard. Here’s a good article about them. They’re very reminiscent of the Voyager uniforms.

This is actually a ploy for the Dominion to steal all the curly fries!

Agreed. I assumed I was in the minority, but the longer Enterprise has been off the air, the more I felt like the 3-4 seasons were not that great. The third season was reactionary. The Xindi arc was a unsubtle attempt to turn Star Trek into 24 by adding a serialized storyline and 9/11-style paranoia. In the fourth

Exactly. The Picard show should begin with Riker and Troi firing it up as a holodeck simulation.

“Details! I wanna know details!”

If I understand it correctly, Disney bought 20th Century Fox (which owns and produces The Orville), but not the FOX network (which buys the show).

Tonight’s episode was great. I haven’t felt this giddy about Star Trek since I was 12 and Voyager was still a thing. I guess Discovery isn’t for everyone.

It’s sci-fi/fantasy. The idea that ice could sink the Titanic violates White Star Line canon.

I actually like how Disco is using TOS elements vs, say, Enterprise in its fourth season. Disco is taking elements from TOS and adapting them for its own use. With Enterprise, they seemed to forget they were making their own, distinct show and turned the whole series into a TOS fan film.

A very solid episode. Like the Short Treks, this feels much more character-focused than the more frantic first season. I’m excited for more.

In a twist, Star Wars Episode IX will be the next Cloverfield movie.

There are some left. Depending on who you ask, the Baby Boomer generation extends to around 1960-64. College-age kids would’ve been born around 1996-2000.

I can see the concern, but it doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to write off the New York AG race as a loss. If she’s 70% progressive, work with her to get the last 30% rather than dismissing her as a member of “the Establishment.”

And in the third and final statewide primary race, New York City public advocate Tish James, who was backed by Cuomo, defeated law professor Zephyr Teachout on her left and U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney on her right to win the state primary for attorney general.

I’m poking fun, but...yeah.
