That’s called “being a creative person”. There’s no guarantee of success. But if you make something your own and don’t just glom onto someone else’s property, your success or failure is yours and yours alone. This fake Pokemon game is getting more attention that it would if it wasn’t a fake Pokemon game. Is that fair?

So, it’s better to be a shameless Pokemon bootleg than be original and labelled a clone?

I’d rather be a minor success at something I own and can exploit as I wish than a beloved fan favorite by infringing copyright.
