You have to make compromises in red states. Sometimes that means supporting the less awful Republican in the primaries. We’ve done this with some success in SC. Clinton tried to reach out to Bernie supporters with words, and little action. One glaring example is bringing on a VP candidate that was another centrist, and was the only person in America capable of losing a debate to Mike Pence. And they still voted for her in larger numbers than Clinton voters did for Obama.
