I don’t get how yeast and bacteria are exempt from the vegan idea of not using anything from animals - they aren’t animals, but I thought the key was that they don’t eat things are or were alive. Although I’ll admit, I don’t see how vegans don’t take it to the logical end point and become fruitarians.

If you do it right, you don’t have to kill an animal to enjoy meat, either. A pig like that you don’t eat all at once, after all.
