Seriously, as I try to explain to my gun nut friends, the chances of you getting killed by white Christian are almost infinitely greater than the chances of getting killed by a Muslim terrorist on US soil.

It’s sort of common sense I think. I’ve been in houses where people leave loaded guns laying around. How can anyone justify that as safe? That’s like hanging the keys to your Lamborghini on a hook on your front porch and being surprised when someone wrecks it.

If you compare Canada and the US, non-gun homicides are pretty comparable. But the GUN homicide rate is about 13 times higher in the US.

Have I mentioned how much the concept of ‘for profit’ prisons just blows my mind? The idea of monetising people being in jail. In other words, creating an incentive to get people into jail.

Except it is. If you check out the chart listed above, which is concerning homicide as a whole, the USA is still leaps and bounds ahead of nearly all other developed countries. The country, I think, is just mentally geared to accept violence as a recourse for getting one’s way.
