And you don't get legions of, er I believe the perjorative people use is "dudebros" hating on her, and she's a strong powerful woman and a communist no less who wants to stop her husband from protecting his family. So I don't think the Skyler hate is as gender based as people think.

I think he works when surrounded by other funny characters and situations, like Douglas having to go to court and behave like an actual grown man - that's very funny. His ridiculous indulgences like the Trek sex tape, also very funny. Jen's exasperation with him is great comedy. I really think there's lots to like and

I would be delighted if you could link to anywhere, anywhere at all where I have said anything like that about Skyler. Of course if you can't link to that you should probably shut the fuck up to save your self having to rely on embarrassing strawmen.

Douglas hate on The AVClub is down to the fact he's basically an unreconstructed "alpha" male. Even though the show goes out of it's way to ridicule this.

Ah finally, some sense.

I agree a lot of the problems come down to people not distinguishing between the show and reality - like all the people saying Walt fans must be raging psychos in real life, because the people saying that can't work out the perfectly rational idea that you can root for anyone you like in fiction because it's not real.

You're so good and clever and moral for watching this show "in the right way". Ahem.

Exactly, a large component of the whole Skylar thing is that the internet encourages people on both sides of the divide to correlate what's happening on the TeeVee with real-life, and let's be honest here, that's really REALLY fucking dumb.

@avclub-e0cd3f16f9e883ca91c2a4c24f47b3d9:disqus,

Lets not forget to make the inherent-to-buddy-cop-movies subtextual romance very very textual.

I don't think Letterman was presented as a tool but actually network who played Louis and Seinfeld off against each other gain a stronger position in renegotiating Letterman's contract.

"Goddamnit! If I can't be the first to make a Big Lebowski reference, what good am I?"

"I'm Godzilla, you are Japan!"

I believe the script was written and the movie was in the process of getting greenlit way before Pulp or even Dogs. Unfortunate timing is what killed the movie.

You're confused. The show ended after season 8.

Walt would have Dexter in a barrel of acid so fast he wouldn't even have time to monologue.

Same. His patronising "May I" type of speechifying to people like Gus and Mike is super annoying. But his sheer will power is electrifying.

What do you make of him turning down Elliot and Gretchen's money? He could have taken the money he felt was owed him and everything would have been OK. If you are making an allowance on "redeemability" based on him needing the money you have to concede he had perfectly legal, safe, moral option all along. He broke

Interesting. I actually feel the opposite - devotion to family is an utter myth, a comforting story Tio and Walt tell themselves to justify their actions.

Not that Sherlock isn't smug and aloof because it is, but what other overpraised Brit TV is also smug and aloof? I can see Dr Who being smug but not aloof, other than that though most of our overpraised stuff is obvious and trying to appeal to the lcd.
