I would gladly quit spending on my biggest expense — childcare.

Here in Southern California, that’s one of the biggest factors keeping real estate out of reach for regular people.

This is essentially what I do every night after my three boys go to bed.

I’ve been saving and washing my cottage cheese tubs and their lids, but have been kind of noncommittal as to why. I’ve been using for little recipes of cleaning solution (and making sure to label them). Now, I see they would also be perfect containers for freezing a single serving of soup.

How do you figure out which is right for you? In general, the time to buy a home is when you’re financially secure enough that you can’t easily lose the home due to a normal unexpected event or two.

I consider myself a moderate cook, but there’s no way I can cook like my mom did — making complicated and amazing Filipino dishes such as kare kare (peanut soup with oxtail and vegetables), pancit (noodles) and pinakbet (an amazing shrimp and vegetable stir fry that I haven’t had since she died) — from scratch and

I believe in you, Tom. I habitually picked on zits and pimples on my face till I realized they were leaving lasting marks and managed to stop. Now I have a nasty habit of picking at my fingers, but I noticed my 2nd kid seems to have inherited my tendency to pick, so I’m trying to stop.

Turon. Most Filipino restaurants/stores also add langka or jackfruit, but I like mine simple. I have used regular bananas, plaintains and the short, tree-grown bananas. I’ve also experimented with using brown sugar. You really can’t go wrong with this.

How did you get a picture of my sweater? Stop stalking me!

I second this. I bought my iMac in 2008, but pat myself on the back each time we've had to move house because I still have the box. That thing is kind of awkward and I might actually have a heart attack if it was damaged by a mover.

My kids are still young, so I leave most of the gift giving to aunties, uncles and godparents still. However, my oldest (5 years old, going to turn 6 on New Year’s day) was asking me yesterday for a phone and a tablet computer.....Lord help me.

My mom always prescribed straight up lemon and honey for a sore throat.

This is one of the reasons I haven’t pushed cord cutting as hard as I could have for my house. I do not like to binge watch. I like bite-sized pieces. There are few shows I watch where I’m like, “Wait, what!? I want more!” — and that only occasionally. In fact, this is why I don’t watch as many movies as I maybe could

Was your sister named Elmyra???

There is hiking beyond Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles. A lot of good hiking, in fact. Runyon just happens to be the most central spot for Hollywood.

Cripes, I want everything in this post.

Three boys in, and eating out (fast food, not even at restaurants) is nearly a necessity by the end of the week. Not just because we’re so exhausted and we can hardly muster up the energy to cook, but also because we tend to be out of food by Friday. Because...three boys.

Fairly sure I got the idea from a Gawker blog.

Just read the full article. GUHHHHHHHROSSSSSSS.

I would say that most people have the opposite problem — credit in the 700s but very little cash saved up, which is my status, but still, you sound like you know what you're talking about.
