It depends totally on what you have for a plan and what you need. I am not old enough to know the details, but from what I can tell, Medicare at its worse is a lot better than the typical crap private insurance. Medicare at its best is really good, but you have to pay extra for that and they still will refuse to pay…

My mom was a case manager at the hospital for years so I am well aware of the shit show that is insurance AND the hospital costs.

The provider side is whole other story. It’s just INCREDIBLY expensive to be a doctor today, even before you get into things like salaries. The costs to maintain an entire billing operation so you can get paid, and then fight to get paid over every little thing. The fact that there are a hundred trial lawyers waiting…

Our healthcare system in this country is such a fucking joke. Look at the fascists who complained about obamacare for years and that they had all these great plans. Then they get in power and nothing.

Nope. Medicare isn’t free medical care. My mom needs hearing aids. Cost before Medicare = $4000. Cost after Medicare = $4000. She also needs shots in her eyes to keep from going blind. Cost before Medicare = $50, Cost after Medicare = $1500.

Sadly that’s where my thoughts went, too: it’s his retirement plan.

HE now has free health care, three meals a day, cable tv.. hes 79.. to hell with the hospice house..
