That’s true... they’re not shedding any tears over bumping him back to high school. And they perpetrated One More Youknow. At least the comics have let him age up, for extended periods of time, and used him to explore life challenges beyond young adulthood. One day the movies can do the same.

You mean Spider-man can get better.

More than that. The characters grew up and got married, but ended up making a deal with the devil that undid it all and put the comic back to the old status quo.

I didn’t say it was right, I said it was what we were supposed to do. I should have said “expected to” not “supposed to”. Sorry. I don’t think there was anything wrong with adults finding pleasure and joy in reading old Silver Age style comics. We didn’t need to give that stuff up, we were just expected to. Our

I can’t disagree with anything you said, except the phrase

And that relates to what I’m saying....How?

Wait, seriously? I don’t tend to follow the behind the scenes stuff at Marvel, so this is news to me.

No. What I said was that I was tired of seeing Peter at the start of things. As I’ve already mentioned, at the beginning of Secret War, he’s married and balancing a career and family with his superheroing. The core of the character is not “perpetually screwed student”. At least, not in any of the stories I find truly

Spiderman: by Michael Bay

I agree. But there’s the thing, I (and probably you as well), grew up with Spider-Man growing up right along side. I could, in that sense, relate to the things he was dealing with in his personal life as a twenty-something and into early middle age. The fact that he wasn’t a kid, but was allowed to grow up and deal

Well you could forget that burning sensation, if you want to, all you need to do is take this deal... with the devil...

My complaint has nothing to do with wanting Peter’s life to be perfect. I’m more interested in the sort of situation he found himself in at the beginning of Secret War, with Nick Fury showing up in his living room, and Mary Jane giving him the “I’m going to smack you for this” look and tone.

Personally, it’s the evolution from that stage to the adult that he was pre-One More Day that made him interesting to me, so I’m not upset that the movies are going back to high school. Hopefully they’ll show that development as Tom Holland ages.

Who else is tired of the “Peter Parker has to be a down on his luck high school/college student/photographer to be relatable”? Sure, that was an interesting take back in the day, but insisting on sticking to it at all costs feels a bit boring at this point. Other characters manage to evolve and retain the core of who

Well, they’ve said they’re sticking with the high School setting for a while, maybe the whole movie will take place over homecoming weekend, as Spidey works his adventuring in between the dance and the big game. Big fight at the bonfire party, chase during the parade, etc.
