What I find more interesting is "The First 20 Hours" by Josh Kaufman. Not mastery but deliberate and focused practice as you said to get to competence. I'd rather be quite good in many skills than "master" of one.

Actually in the Scouts it's always a left handed handshake. As a lefty I always shake right handed simply because that's the convention in most circumstances.

I don't live in USA, and I already know the laws for my country so it's just a more practical aspect. (i.e. don't need 2nd party permission to record and can use transcript if ever needed for legal purposes without requiring permission)
