dude, what school are you teaching at? If I had teachers offering free Steam games as rewards for success in class, I might’ve actually taken academia seriously. At any rate, I really hope you find some alternate way to keep doing what you’re doing if the new system screws you over.

The thing is that, really, they didn’t have to take this away. Even without just giving you an opaque key, they could’ve supported it.

It is almost as if.... Valve is not a good consumer friendly company at all.

This was exactly my first thought too!!!

Ya, I kindof have to agree. I used to buy games on Steam if they were a good price and then send them to friends on their birthdays, etc. It’s unfortunate that I won’t be able to do that anymore.

Kindred souls, my friend. C’mere! <3

This is absolutely my experience as someone who is active in autistic/developmentally disabled communities and has interacted with hundreds of autistics. Women are generally expected to behave a certain way that is contrary to many autistics — we have the tendency to be loud (difficulties with modulating the volume of

I read an article, or perhaps it was just a conversation string, about how women with autism are heavily under-diagnosed because healthy social interactions are drilled into young girls more than they are boys. Basically, one of the key defining features of autism is covered up simply because of the way society raises

As an autistic woman, I want to say thank you for this article and especially for using female gamers are examples. Representation of autistics in media and the news overwhelmingly focuses on a narrow archetype that contributes to the under-diagnosis of people who aren’t represented.

Perhaps I can help you feel a little better about your son’s situation. (Or, perhaps I will simply make it worse. My intentions, however, are pure. ;)

One of the worst things about this for me is how invalidating it is for people who have been diagnosed with autism. It was still called Aspergers when I got my diagnosis at 25, but it makes you very self-conscious and the jerks who use the word as an insult take advantage of that. Every time I show any level of

Great article. I can’t tell if I see this used as an insult more now that I am a father of an autistic child, or if it’s just come into fashion as of late.

Unfortunately I think all of it has to do with money. i’m no business analyst, but it seems to me that they’re less likely to lose much of anything from pulling ads from Youtube than they are from the highest rated cable network on TV.

Dude. Have you fucking seen the kinds of legislation Republican politicians have put forwards?

YouTube is kinda turning into Fox News in this respect. Fox News still positions themselves as the alternative “mainstream” media, when they’ve actually been at the top of the heap for a decade. YouTube’s decentralized video creation makes it feel like this is a platform full of scrappy upstarts, but as a company it

“huuuurgh youtubers shouldn’t make money on youtube”.

There’s a certain irony in JonTron’s tweet about Ethan being “a better investigative journalist,” when said “journalist” evidently decided to just trust a source in a precarious position, rather than vetting the words of that source through other sources.

I mean, even in Rhet/Comp, a single source absent further

Businesses aren’t obligated to advertise on YouTube. There is no law that says they can’t pull their ads from YouTube. If a business doesn’t want to work with YouTube then that is their right. To say otherwise suggests that these corporations have no right to control where they advertise their content.

I never even suggested the idea that we should “turn over the power of free speech to corporations”. I said that like everyone else, a corporation has the right to free speech. As such, they have the right to choose where they advertise their products. If they choose not to do it on YouTubers who are bigots then

Saw this play out over on Reddit this weekend. I really dislike this trend of moving the goalposts instead of just admitting the mistake. This seems to be a trend among the youtubers- Admit fault and amend with a BUT...
