I believe there are hundreds of Americans facing life without parole for smaller quantities of drugs. 

It’s hard to get a psych hold on someone unless they’re explicitly threatening themselves or other people. We went through this with my dad in 2021 and there wasn’t a lot we could do until he agreed to go in for in patient treatment.
