What is "chick lit"? and how does it differ from other literally genres and stories (especially ones that feature women or love)?

I'm totally against moralizing and all that, but I wonder if the conversation is really being advanced by the Current editors. So we know what we can't bring up, so what can be talked about. Two lists might be helpful.

The best way to make racists feel better about their racism is to play into their stereotypes that we are violent thugs etc etc. In that case, racists like Whiz Kalieffa way more than say Common.

He wasn't able to escape racism, but that'd be impossible anyway, and that's not Cosby's or Pharrell's point. Let's look at what Obama accomplished: Harvard Law Review, Professor, Senator, President. Do you think he could've gotten there if he wasn't "respectable"? If he didn't value education? The point isn't to be

I agree with Pharrell. Bear in mind he repeated over and over Brown didn't deserve to die, and that the Officer should be punished. And while possibly robbing a store doesn't mean he deserved to be shot, it does suggest that maybe Brown wasn't a very nice guy and that could've played a role in his interaction with

well, that's nice to hear then. I also hear she smokes weed. Super cool.

Yeah but don't they all say that about everyone. Watch any interview, "what was it like working with so-and-so?" "oh so-and-so is the best. so nice and so sweet."

Yeah, it kind of makes me wonder what Jennifer would've said to "regular" questions. She didn't seem so mean or whatever. I thought she'd whip out her phone and stop listening, instead this guy feeds her stupid questions anyway.

Wow what a story. It has somewhat horrifying, but I felt like it was my responsibility to read it. Weird as it is to say, high school students being evil assholes is damn near expected, but the faculty and staff? They should've known better, but I bet they're all "conservative" there and default to blaming the woman

GTA V is a minefield of missed opportunities. Why doesn't the weed and alky-hol do shit!?!? STFU!

This isn't the best of stories, but come the fuck on. Quick question: who is the most computer knowledgeable character in the story? The teacher, who is a lady. Brian and Stephan, they represent all sorts of stuff for you, but the woman teacher? No need to mention her, she means nothing.
Brian and Stephan don't

Once again thanks for the reply. Food for thought for sure. I'm with you though, inclusion and diversity is good.

I'm a little confused. When you say "the right to"... what do you mean? Are these rights codified in law, like in the Constitution? or... what? ok, specifically

Well, thanks for responding. I think I make a little sense, but perhaps you could reevaluate the sense you're making. For instance, if there are no rules that all feminists must follow then there's no way to distinguish feminists from non-feminists. There must be SOMETHING that brings all feminists together (just like

I'm still waiting for....

Well said.

Lindy West is a funny and decent writer, but her thoughts on feminism aren't entirely correct. For instance, she says feminism takes up for the alienated or the marginalized, because it is, "in essence", inclusive. However, "in practice" and "by definition", it isn't. Instead, it is concerned only with women (not an

I'm a bit confused. Did Time decide feminist should be a word (along with others), then had people vote, or did people vote to make feminism a banned word? Because I'm under the impression it's the former, and while the trolls from number-whatever will be trolls, the Time came up with this on their own. And I see how

That's kinda interesting how you accidentally made a good point. While some of the backlash against gaming journalism was about ethics and not about hating women, the Time's inclusion of "feminism" was about how the concept is used and presented and not about hating women. It's like, the Time doesn't have a problem

This really proves nothing. Who's to say a woman couldn't have done the exact same thing at that station? Even if the viewers noticed and complained or the boss noticed and complained it only proves they've got sexist viewers and bosses. There's no "double-standard" because there is no "standard" except whatever
