i have the same feeling, yet i can't find the old post.

I liked it well enough, thought they chickened out on the ending though.

everyone else except stephen stills. They nailed that guy in the looks department, but he seemed to play the part as a frightened child, instead of just the broken down man trapped in a 20 something body that stephen stills in the comic seemed to be.

yeah, i definitely agree. There are some really great parts of Life Aquatic (basically everything involving the pirates and jeff goldblum) but it felt like it was trying to tell the same kind of things that The Royal Tenenbaums was, but not nearly as good.

yeah, it was a weird thing in his reviews after her death. At some point in the season he had a change of heart about the portrayal of her death, but he never addressed ever except for snide remarks about it in the reviews for the rest of the season.
