When other G/O sites were sold, they were still on Kinja for a month or two after the sale before they switched to new platforms. The company that bought Jalopnik, Static Media, doesn’t have comments on any other of the sites they own so I’m hoping that the delay is so that they can figure out how to add a comment…
I’m guessing that the shard of the former Kinja empire that is Jalopnik still has rights to use Kinja. Perhaps it is for the best, Kinja has its flaws, but Gizmodo, the other ex-sister site I visit, has moved off it and the comment section got much worse.
