I don't see how it saves money. Either you have a dealer/maker model or the automaker owns all the service centers outright. That adds real-estate employee costs and more to their bottom line. Manufacturers already set MSRP and multiple dealerships are often in range to control costs.

It’s all about partnership. If the service and distribution model works out for all parties, great. Win win is Volvo not having to front all the costs for the service network these cars will require. Look at Kia recalling tons of EVs already. You’d have terrible customer service without local centers.

Live free, but tow those ugly brodozers!

Market manipulation?  This is rich considering that Musk committed securities fraud (funding secured!) and spends half his day meme posting about crypto, while dumping company funds into the volatile asset.  I would say a Jalopnik article pales in comparison to the self-pumper in chief.

Cars are so damn expensive.  I guess it’s the bifurcation of the market where the proles can only afford bad finance or horrible used cars while the better half pays out the nose for a fucking minivan.

And both are yuuge commercial successes that I don’t understand. My own kids, who are steeped in the mythology of Mazda and ride in them daily, think Jeeps are “cool”. SMDH.

It’s like you don’t even respect the BWWAA.....SMDH.

That Taco sounds like a real lemon. I'll take it off your hands for a very fair $500, no questions asked. I don't normally do charity, but you convinced me to make an exception.

If it’s only for a sandwich, then convenience is king.  But for the overall menu?  Popeye’s is worth the occasional drive.  I have the similar distance to each chain as you and find myself willing to hit Popeye’s and almost never go to KFC.

What is Zaxby’s?  Is that like a Cumberland Farms?

What!? My rankings are Popeye’s > Wendy’s > Chick-Fil-A > KFC > McDs > BK.  I will never understand the Chick-Fil-A love.  Too one dimensional and not that great.

Car ads will feature more dogs than ever in 2021.  Got a new dog, well you need a new car!  Don’t you love your dog?

I love my Jalopnik, but love following the economics of the auto industry at Wolfstreet: https://wolfstreet.com/category/all/cars-trucks-crashes/

My hometown in Massachusetts still has zero confirmed cases, so great job?  Western countries are all doing terribly, Canada is no exception.

Lol, okay Canada!  https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/21/world/canada-ontario-province-shutdown/index.html

I think they’re just following Elon’s stock hyping prowess.  Witness Tesla with a market cap exceeding several high volume automotive manufacturers.  If all it takes is hype, why not just leak stories like cars will increase in value over time?

Where is this mythical sub-$2k pick up truck that runs well when only used for occasional chores?  I’d like to buy one just for myself.

Uber doesn’t have to operate at a profit, and likely will never turn a profit.  You liked Uber because it was providing a service at a loss.  The better service you’re looking for is black car service, but that’s expensive you protest!  Yes, that’s how they make the money versus the regular yellow cabs.

Winter sucks if there’s no snow though.  I’m pulling for some good snow fall here in metro-Boston.  Last winter sucked ass.  Snow provides all the outdoor fun.
