The King Arthur popover recipe is the BEST, and I make them every couple of weeks. Years ago I went on a quest for a good recipe, and none of the others came close. Thanks to your scone recommendation, I’ll give those a try, too.
A side benefit to following you/Bruce on Twitter is that you respond to other cat tweets, so you bring more cats onto my Twitter feed. So many bonus cats!
I have some Pier 1 chairs and a love seat in my house that are classic looking and well made. Being able to order the style and the fabric were key factors. It’s not all papasan chairs and “lifestyle” collectibles at Pier 1! That being said, I haven’t been back there since I bought the furniture a few years ago.
So glad to see #sheltercat #HandsomeBruce on Twitter, Krispy!
My mom used to put some coffee grounds on my ice cream when I was a little one, and I loved it so much. Or, if there was leftover brewed coffee, she’s splash some of that on my ice cream. Then again, she used to put a scoop of ice cream on my oatmeal in the morning for breakfast, so as you might surmise, she was an…
Cathartic is absolutely right. I watched two hours and howled at some of the callers. Their words and emotions were raw, uncensored, and real.
I’ll add school boards to your list, too. They have a direct influence on adopting curriculum, which, in the case of social studies and history texts, vary greatly in terms of scope and perspective.
Heck yes, every day. Some brow pencil, light pencil liner, and a swipe of mascara. Without those three, my face disappears entirely, thanks to light features and being middle-aged. I put it on even when I know I’ll be home all day by myself so I’m not startled when I glance in a mirror.
How on earth have I forgotten about this? I used to make chocolate caramel matzoh all the time for my co-workers, and they used to beg for more. I felt so... powerful. Thank you for the reminder. It’s time for a chocolate caramel matzoh renewal.
I’m sure Jolie has a much superior video, but I learned how from a youtube video, and my fitted sheet-folding talent is such that Martha Freaking Stewart would marvel at my prowess. When I am long gone, my people will remember that I could fold a perfect fitted sheet, if nothing else.

I’m kicking myself because, although we are stocked with beans and tuna and pasta and all the staples, I haven’t yet stocked up on emergency bags of chocolate chips/baking chips for Quarantine Baking. Such a misstep in my planning.
So if the intent is to lessen the potential of spreading the virus, shouldn’t the limited audiences be sitting in every-other seat, maybe every-other row, rather than clustered together?
How well do the inner soles hold up? The sandals are hideous but the shoes are ok. Worth the price?
I use a designated pair of Skechers for this. There’s no way I could walk around without some kind of cushioning or support, so this is an easy go-to. Slip on, slip off, and it’s easy to change into my “outside” tennies to pick up the mail or go into the garden.
I don’t have anything pithy or clever to say, just want to say I enjoy your posts, Garrett. Also, feeling some kinship -- Bay Area native here.
Mel and Sue were so perfect! They weren’t intrusive, didn’t pester the bakers during stressful moments (*ahem, Noel*) and seemed genuinely interested rather than simply trying to be funny. As host, let’s bring back Mary Berry. OK, clearly I just want things as they were. Also, unrelated: “Use a cocktail stick!”
Yes, I laughed :)
I’ve legitimately had sports bra panic when I can’t get one off. That sense of “I need to sit down with this thing half-on/half-off and relax for a moment.”
Aw, thank you for this. Raccoons get a bad rap, but they are smart, clever, and adorable. Anyone who wants to tell me vicious they are, just don’t. That’s not the point.
