Dunham-haters claim it's not about sexism, but the absurdly over-the-top anger puts the lie to that. They don't get that furiously enraged about male comedians they don't like.

I stopped watching after I fell asleep multiple times during the first season (and I was often tired, so not saying it's THAT boring, but it wasn't for me). But I respect your write-up here.

One of our favorite shows. After watching the first PBS season, we had to watch every season via… various Internet means. We couldn't wait for PBS to adapt them. Also, the British version is a bit longer I think. Can't miss a minute!

Phil Noto and pretty much any female character. Domino, Psylocke, Marvel Girl, Power Girl, Oracle, Spider-Gwen, the Wasp, etc.

Finally! I've been waiting ages for You're the Worst S2 to be added. Now I'll subscribe to Hulu for a month in August to catch up on that, the second half of the recent Mindy Project season, and maybe check out 11.22.63 and The Path as well.

I wanted to like this — I love the boss fights in games like Shadow of the Colossus or any Legend of Zelda — but I just don't have the reflexes for some of the more "bullet hell" style sequences. I played against the third boss several times and I'm no longer enjoying it. No slam on the game itself though; it's great

"Severed Crossed Fingers" may be my favorite song of hers.

I'm one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes terrible. It's not that hard to avoid though. Just say "No cilantro please". Almost always works.

Damsels in Distress is hilarious.

The complete absence of even one animated movie here is a little odd.

Three very funny movies. Sometimes I remember everyone spontaneously dancing to that Butterfly song and it's still funny.

Ghost World is one of my favorite movies of all time, but it wouldn't leap to mind if I was making a list of best comedies.

I am with you on that. A terrific movie.

CTRL-F: Hot Rod

I laughed.

Forgive me if someone else has already cited this, but if you're wondering how to walk the balance between talking about an actress's career / ambitions / talent and acknowledging the role her appearance has played in her success, this NY Times profile of Margot Robbie does a much better job:

I don't know if I want to wade too deep into this here — you all are doing fine on your own and it's been an interesting read — but I'd thought I'd also point out that an actress or singer who does half-naked photoshoots for magazine might be doing something they really would rather not do but feel obligated to do in

This election has finally guilted me into a stance of voting in all elections in which I'm eligible to vote, even the boring ones.

A recent Atlantic article discussed this issue, heavily citing a 2002 book called Stealth Democracy. This book showed that a large % of Americans seem to sincerely believe that all of our problems have simple common-sense solutions and the government is merely too corrupt or incompetent to enact them. Figures like

It's really, really good. I second that recommendation.
