They have created a near composite character/new character in Ciprien Grives (he is supposed to represent Aaron Lightener and Michael Curry). That is a change I am not a fan of at all.

You are spot on with this comment. The individual episodes need to be compelling and populated with rich characters that keep you wanting more while enjoying the overall puzzle. For me examples of this are The Leftovers and Watchmen. Lindelof learned his lesson with Lost and he learned it well.
I had to scroll to the top to ensure I was reading the last name Broccoli correctly. “Sit with Broccoli” had me all sorts of confused.
No mention of Luca Guadagino for Bones and All? Seems like a major oversight to me.
I have to disagree with you. Leo and Brad were both major draws for the general public. Cinephiles went for Tarantino.
Pedantic? The reviews for this show are consistently factually wrong! Pointing that out is just fine.
Yes, you are correct. Lestat is one of the most pansexual characters in popular fiction. His sexuality and desire know no bounds. Lestat is all about beauty whether it is male or female or gender queer (Gabrielle).
You are correct. Louis and Lestat are “lovers” in the vampiric sense and form a family with two fathers with Claudia. Rice’s work is super queer and was ahead of its time in the 70s.
Bingo. Rice’s work is delightfully queer. I am nearly a lifelong fan of her work and I absolutely loved the first two episodes. The changes are both a refreshing update and simultaneously honor Rice’s legacy and body of work. Setting Louis in Storyville is a direct link with some of her other works especially the…
Great summation!
It has nothing to do with homophobia or being gay. NOTHING. You have created out of thin air an entire character motivation that does not exist.
During the High Sparrow season of Game of Thrones Loras is put in prison for being gay and the faith militant seem to have a huge issue with it.
There is zero evidence Criston killing Joffrey has anything to do with homophobia.
George RR Martin actually writes a fair number of Targaryen’s as LGBTQ+, particularly the women. Rhaenyra just isnt one of them.
Without giving away spoilers I can tell you that the crimes Criston Cole goes on to commit are perfectly in line with someone who would snap when reminded of his personal failings and lack of honor to his vows.
Homophobic act of violence? There is zero evidence Criston killing Joffrey has anything to do with homophobia. The character motivation is about his own honor and devastation at throwing away his vows for a relationship that will never be legitimized.
Its Laenor’s own dragon called Seasmoke!
Thank you for pointing out it is Laenor on his dragon! His dragon is called Seasmoke :)
The quality is horrendous and lacks all sophistication and professionalism of past AV Club reviews.
I am so tired of the endless misapplications of the term grooming online. The term is so overused and misused it has lost meaning.
