You are completely missing the point. The behavior is characterized as abusive, manipulative and destructive. Palo Alto critiques coaches preying on teens it does not endorse it.

I am absolutely a fan of his work and this news sucks.
Palo Alto specifically depicts the coach/teacher as a complete asshole abuser and he even played that role himself. The whole movie is about bored/depressed rich people doing bad things and that includes the coach. It is not an endorsement of that behavior it calls it out as everyday evil.
Thank you. I really appreciate that.
oh no worries.
That is not my story at all. It is clearly a big lapse in judgement. My point is we have all had those and anyone who tries to tell me they haven’t when it comes to dating/sex, etc. is either a virgin or a liar.
Yes, it is not a great look to be a dude in his 30s with a 17 year old but it is a mistake you can move on from and never make again. I guess to me this just does not fall any where under the same umbrella as what has been the primary discussion for months now which is sexual abuse and rape. I also really liked…
The thing about that is we dont even know the context of how/why his penis was exposed. Is it not entirely possible they were engaging in some consensual form on heavy petting and then he interpreted that as a green light for oral sex? She then declined and he did not force her. That is the only part of this that we…
Right. This is the first time in all these months where an issue is trying to be made of nothing.
That is not accurate. The age of consent in the US is 18 unless a state specifies a different age like 16 or 17.
Contracts are how businesses are able to function. You think people making movies require contracts for no reason? It is so there is no confusion about what is required for the job, the duration and the pay. If she didn’t agree to the terms she never should have accepted the job and signed the contract. Not everything…
I agree that it is very jarring how different the memories are but I think that might be what I find most interesting and compelling about the entire show. Another highlight from last season for me was Brendan Fraiser as the guard. He was phenomenal in that role and really reminded people that he truly can act.
I agree. I don’t know what it is able Showtime but they seem to have really interesting concepts for shows that are great for the first 1-2 seasons then they completely implode. I hate what they did to Penny Dreadful and The Affair was a simmering sexy thriller for 2 seasons before becoming increasingly pointless.…
If this resembles the novels at all, and based on this trailer I would say it does, we are all in for a treat. Cumberbatch is perfect casting for Patrick Melrose.
Right. I think I will just re-watch Sons of Anarchy.
This fucking guy?! (and by this guy I mean the person completely disrespecting gender identity and muddling sexual orientations and the term cisgender)
NO. A Cisgender male could in fact also be homosexual or heterosexual or pansexual or demisexual or asexual! Sex, gender and sexual orientation are all separate things. Cisgender simply means denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their birth sex.
Cisgender does not mean straight. Please, please spend time reading about these terms before going off about them.
Are you actually comparing differentiating between geek and nerd to the complex nature of gender identification? Just because you don’t understand a different type of gender identity does not mean that it is illegitimate and unimportant.
There is most certainly a difference between geeks and nerds which was perfectly articulated for you up thread. Language can have specific and general meanings. That is exactly how language works.
