I hate being that guy but the generic white male young adult giving exposition kind of turned me off. I don’t really know anything about the book though but I know a lot of people love it so I won’t write this off right away. But virtual world with pop culture references isn’t enough to make me see this.

Right? I’m white but I’m totally sympathetic to the challenges a black American has to face in our country and BLM. So wouldn’t the black community want a show that brings their struggles to mainstream pop culture?

Personally, I think music being good is way more subjective compared to all other forms of art. You should never be embarrassed by the music you listen to. There are 1000s of music genre’s and everyone likes different stuff.
