I would say a reboot is any movie that tries to bring lie back to a franchise without starting completely over but is usually accessible without previous knowledge. Force Awakens, while a sequal, could be considered a reboot

I thought all the characers had a ton of potential (except boomerang and slipknot) but none of them get anything to work with. Someone else explained all their backstories and each character only had a few actual lines. Even Harley Quinn only said jokes, we never actually got an idea of what was going on in her head.
