What a Time to be alive when 420 HP is just Meh..... who cares..... I remember in the 90's if you were packing 200 horse you were a supercar!

it’s not misinformed, you are just bad at it
With global platforms, Ford will still have the small cars available when the inevitable happens. They won’t be selling them here, but they will have the ability to (federalize them and) bring them here should the demand pick up due to rising fuel prices.
This strikes me as a choice that Ford may find regrettable when gas prices climb back up. But I’d assume that Ford has put much more thought into this decision than I have.
I can’t even remember the last time I watched a CD.
The rest of the auto industry had better be putting every goddamn thing they have into beating Tesla.
Whoa, look at Mr. Moneybags over here, waving around his hard currency like it was nothing! Got so many pennies he can just carry one around with him to stick in his tire like a common tool! Go back to uptown, Mr. Moneybags, don’t taunt us with your fantastic wealth.
Not to mention the ZF 8 speed is used in several full size SUV’s with tow capacities north of 7000lb. They are a very robust transmission. That said, the ZF in particular does run a large cooler and still runs warm. The manufacturer spec’s out a higher temp trans fluid to accomodate this
I’m not surprised that the Ford small-car automatic transmission engineers shuddered at the GM product. It’s what they do best.
In before the entire Miata community savages you over the timing belt mistake. These cars absolutely do have a timing belt, which I can verify having owned a 90 and changed its belt personally.
Alfa Romeos breaking down is a law of the universe.
That could be due to any of several factors. compression ratio. weight of the truck itself. Gearing. Aerodynamics. All things aren’t equal here. By all things equal I meant the same displacement engine in the same exact automobile. One has DOHC and four valves per cylinder the other has pushrods. Hell, use the SAME…
Could you be a little more arrogant? Yeah, sorry my pushrod engine makes good power, is reliable, and gets good fuel economy. There are small diesels that get worse MPG than my pushrod V8. I’m not saying OHC/DOHC engines are junk. The point I’m making is that pushrod engines aren’t garbage. I think you’re the one…
You can hate old school pushrods if you want, but they get shit done. I have a Silverado with a 6.2. It’s got a variable volume oil pump and squirters under the pistons. I’ve also gotten 27 mpg with it, which is no small feat for a 4wd 420hp pickup. And as capable as Ford’s 3.5 Ecoboost is, my Silverado doesn’t sound…
Well that’s not exactly fair. New LT engine have very little in common with gen one small blocks. While OHV is a very old technology, GM really refined that tech. You cannot say that the gen V engine are old tech even with a pushrod setup, it’s a design choice more than a technology limitation. There are still…
What’s wrong with pushrods? Is it just that it’s a proven design that frees up a ton of engine bay or do you own a timing belt company or something?
Very simple.
My father was slaughtered by a 15-fingered man.
I shudder at the thought of Jaguar, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Buick SUVs. But the Macan and Cayanne are keeping the Boxter, Cayman and 911 alive. And I guess Panamera, too.
it’s not oil It’s deck stain.
