Really cool episode, but it was a bit bogged down by the fact that the main storyline is sort of a clear rip-off of "A History of Violence". The first few scenes were just too familiar. Even the bad guys come from the same place as the ones in the Cronenberg movie: Philadelphia.

Belo Horizonte, it's very close to Sao Paulo and Rio and the only major difference is in scale. We have a little less crime here but the city is a lot smaller too and it's essentially the same workings and a lot of the same criminal factions, and Rio has maybe a wee bit less crime than Sao Paulo.
The first movie isn't pro-fascism, it just shows that fascism is a natural consequence of the way things are down here. With rampant corruption (honestly, I'm yet to hear about a clean Brazilian politician) and never-ending violence and crime, comes a fitting response: a cult of brainwashed thugs who use whatever…
