Traffic isn’t the end of the world, you can replace a door. I worry about doors that open into people. I like riding my bike for exercise. A door that opens automatically without checking its surroundings is a door that can easily kill a lot of people like me.

In any design job, it’s not the user’s responsibility to be smart. It’s the designer’s responsibility to prevent stupid behaviour whenever they reasonably can.

For your example, there are actual costs to that. They wouldn’t be able to upgrade every customer to the fastest internet speed without spending money making sure that people actually get those speeds.
