Since many Americans moved up into Canada the authorities were alarmed at the spellings and language. So they brought in Scottish teachers to teach kids “properly”. That’s why we spell differently and are a mix of American and British. So we do say “store” and a car has a “trunk” like an elephant. Colourful eh?
