I'll give it credit for being tragically ugly... but it hardly seems like it could be the worst car in the history of the world.
However, I think I'd rather walk than drive one of these things.

AMC and the French... what could possibly go wrong? ;)
My family bought one of these, (well, actually a Pontiac Phoenix), from a rental company in '85. I actually remember it being a very reliable little car. It was sold in good condition when we moved abroad. I'm pretty sure we didn't do any corrective maintenance in the entire time we owned it.
I worked at Ford during the Contour's run. I thought it was the best car Ford was making at the time. The V6 was butter smooth, the shifter on the available 5sp manual was Miata precise, the seats were well bolstered, supportive, and extremely comfortable. The entire interior design didn't have the typical…

Orlove,
Orlove,
This is my personal favorite. I've always loved the lines of this car, and those nifty vents behind the doors.... and that enormous area under the rear glass.... :)
No thanks...
Surely you jest.
Ah, the TU-4. Tupolev was pissed about this one - Stalin ordered an EXACT COPY of the B-29, but never thought about little problems like the fact that Russia didn't use the same measurement standards as the US. They didn't have the tooling to make US size threads or correct thickness Al sheets or any of that stuff. …
How exactly did a story about a lemon Porsche become about the Cobalt SS?
My $.02 - All manufacturers make the occasional lemon. It is a shame if you end up buying that car, but they are pretty rare. I'm sure that Porsche will eventually settle this to the owner's satisfaction. It's just kind of sad that it ended up…
Serious bikes do sound amazing... :)
Let's hope he hires an Electrical Engineer. ;)
I'm sure he can still work magic with the chassis.
I hear you guys complaining about the bigger air ducts and saying that they aren't necessary, but I am going to respectfully disagree:
The new sound of performance will be a high pitched whine from the inverters/speed controllers and the howl of the terrified tyres. I welcome the new age.
(But I'm still keeping my '69 911 for all the reasons you list - have you ever heard the glorious intake noise of 6 individual throttle bodies at 7K RPM? Glorious,…
It's an awesome thing to see. I just finished two years aboard the aircraft carrier USS NIMITZ, and we saw some very heavy seas, but I don't remember seeing any flex at all. When a large wave hit the ship would ring like a bell, but there wasn't any visible deformation.
In related commentary - I spent my young Navy…
It think it has to do with the Navy wanting to act like the Air Force. There is a lot of capability you can add if you don't have to haul around a whole mission's worth of gas... I understand that, but I don't think it works well for the Navy in general, and is espically unsuited to maritime patrol, where aircraft…
