I also wonder if Halloween III’s reception would have been any different if Tommy Lee Wallace originally directed Halloween II, which Carpenter offered him. Wallace’s direction isn’t a deterrent in Halloween III, but if someone else was in charge I could imagine it going in a very different direction.

I just learned the other day that Universal’s plan WAS to bring back Brendan Fraser and the Mummy and mash it together with the sequel to Hugh Jackman’s Van Helsing. Then, nobody cared about Van Helsing so they folded those plans.

Or I mean, let the cameos do it themselves. No children are getting excited about Steve Martin popping up in the Muppet movie, but parents certainly are.

I remember bawling my eyes out during that song in the new Muppets movie where they’re singing about how nobody cares about the Muppets anymore (alongside all of those old photos) and plenty of children being like, “What’s wrong with this guy?”

This film is for Joaquin Phoenix fans, not Joker fans, plain and simple. That doesn’t mean that Joker fans won’t enjoy this, but this is about watching Phoenix let loose. I’m still not sure it would have even been made if he wasn’t the one in this role.

I still love that Death Proof kicks off with the Coming Attractions screen, but also the retro panther cartoon for R rated films.
