Eh, I kinda disagree, pacing and repetition can be a flaw of a movie and it can be a sign that the director doesn't know how to structure a story properly. If a movie isn't crisply edited, it can hurt its impact upon an audience. It's the same as not having a move properly explain itself enough or go into detail.

Eh, I don't get the Taylor Swift obsession. I don't hate her music, and the culture war about her (in)authenticity is stupid. Her music is inoffensive and avoidable. Style is a decent tune and she gets props for providing half the material for the starlightlicker mashup of her and aphex twin.

Can someone explain how Death Note's mythology is too foreign for a straight translation into western audiences? So one of the gods drops a magical book which allows the main character to kill people, and says that he will eventually take his life when things get boring. The main character kills what he considers evil

When was the last time you heard Radiohead at any bar?

That's the problem, everyone, including the anonymous voters get a vote in the second round, they don't even deserve to vote in the first in my opinion, so bad was their reasoning.

As much as I disagree with some of Dowd's picks (Boyhood is highly overrated in my opinion), the fact that Dowd provides detailed analysis of why he thought who should win and who would win the technical awards such as sound, whereas the anonymous PR academy voter doesn't even know what these are proves to me that the

I think the problem with movies about the Iraq war is that it's really hard to make a coherent story about Middle Eastern politics given it's so complicated. The only movie which came close to analysing Middle Eastern politics properly was Syriana, and even that was a really complicated movie (and yet still quite

The weird thing about the backlash is that given the book, which is very pro-American and pro-war, what did we expect this movie to become? I've seen the trailers and they paint the movie as some deep angsty movie about the horrors of war, but the author of American Sniper Chris Kyle never really thinks about it this

Rap can become a gimmick, no doubt. If you dig hard enough though, you will find genuine artists who care about rap and the fact that it's part of black cultural history. Rap is more than just Minaj or Kanye, even if it seems that way, there's a massive underground, independent, alternative and just less popular scene

"The old ones, as I see them (very limitedly), focused better on black culture and questioning social issues and music itself"

What kind of old school rap are you referring to? And what does old school rap do that modern rap doesn't?

Yeah, rap sucks! The last century called, they want their musical prejudice back. As for Hozier, I can't help but feel that it was one good song mixed with a whole lot of other fairly average tracks. One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Critics liking Taylor Swift is just a fad, right?

The fact that Amy is crazy and will always be one is one of the key issues which has been ignored in this text. There's a desperation from some corners to present Nick and Amy equally bad, as if Amy is the representation of every complaint about the cruel nature of marriage for women. And it is true that her

Fair enough, that makes sense, I was wrong.

Oh please, it's trash. And two wrongs don't make a right.

Again though, there are a number of women who actually do like football, but they're not even acknowledged. She just looks at the women who she thinks feel forced to listen to a man they don't care about. And she judges those who she hardly knows (in the car) of living a lie because she thinks no girl would actually

I think Flynn's cool girl rant wasn't to suggest that women can't like poker, but that even those who don't are forced to like it by men who do. Every woman, whether she's willing or not gets funneled into male culture. And for many (at least Amy) she hated this, and believes that many women are faking. That said, I

Holmes uses the word aberration to describe how she is a female psychopath (and psychopaths are very rare).

Because she insulted her and Amy is petty, small and has a number of childish tendencies.
