You do realise this isn't a show you're supposed to "use" in real life right? In fact pretty much all of tv is like that.

Fair point, but how many shows use the treacly music from Matt and Kim though? I just wouldn't call Pierce's words sappy, they're things which he's been saying since the start. HIMYM is pretty healtfelt… I think.
Community has never been meta for meta sake, the writing panel is better than that.
It actually does, it illustrates how Troy and Abed are still fairly immature and use/see Jeff partly as an older brother/uncle instead of one of their friends, and that both are willing to lie to get what they want if they don't think it matters. The fact that Abed responded to Jeff's comment that they stole by…
Yeah who actually thinks this show is a joke machine? If community doesn't care about characterisation and plot, then it's very hard, almost impossible for a comedy to count as a plot and characterization comedy, given the Harmon era community has a very strong sense of character development as well as continuity.
It is a shame, because as you pointed out, Pierce has probably the strongest grasp about the strengths and inadequacies of the group, both individually and as a whole. That means that Pierce puts him in a position of the judge, he summed up Jeff fairly quickly back in what, the second episode? In judging them, he also…
You do realise that Harmon intended community to fight against the cynicism and sarcasm of modern comedy right? Just because they can snark at each other doesn't change the fact that this is a very heartfelt and earnest show.
So do you mean that Pierce doesn't get Abed because he doesn't understand why he wouldn't let or isn't letting Troy realise his potential?
That would've demanded the rest of the group pretend that it's Pierce and mess with Abed's mind, which is cruel. If they just admitted that it's a replacement Pierce, they'd be doing what they're already doing.
Pierce has always liked stereotypical displays of manhood, like scotch, he said in like the first episode "you remind me of myself when I was your age" or something like that, so there was always a bond.
I dunno, Troy and Abed snooping through Jeff's stuff and thinking that keeping bread in the freezer is weird the kind of stuff which drew me to the show in the first place. And I feel like Harmon has done similar things to this, but he probably hasn't done an episode long cathartic release like this. As Kumquat said…
When she's with her female friends or something, I think.
My only complaint is how Pierce treated Abed in the end, I thought there was more to their relationship to that.
Yeah, and Archer requires the plots to properly develop as well. If you want proof, look how the Sea Tunt episodes played out, fairly plot heavy and relevant to the main story. Sure, Seinfeld had plots, but the main device was for comedy, the plots aren't actually that important, it's more about the characters and the…
I guess, but I also felt like seinfeld was also a joke machine, the story lines weren't that important, and you didn't really connect with the characters deeply, it was supposed to make you laugh. If a stoner comedy is defined as a comedy which more operates as a joke machine and has less to do with the plot and…
And plus, this show has some great side characters, I think people are forgetting the fact that this show always tried to focus on the wider world of Ooo, not just Finn and Jake.
My reading is that PB meant all the wedding guests not the criminals, but the guards (who are stupid, that's been established) interpreted her words wrong. Maybe she should have been more explicit, but I find it hard to believe PB wanted the criminals released.
If you put seinfeld in another part of NY, would it matter, especially as it already involved them being involved in all sorts of shenanigans around the city anyway? I also find it weird that you think that a joke based comedy and not a character based comedy is somehow "stoner" given all comedies require some kind of…
Half hour sitcoms and 11-12 minute animated comedies are different beats, and I say this being a massive fan of ATHF.
But I feel like seeing Archer yell to a Laotian woman about compasses wont be as funny as it could be because we've already seen it.
