I agree, a gateway is never as good as a single modem and a single router. I received a lot of interference, and super slow speeds with my gateway.

There are many great routers out there. I would recommend a dual band ac1200+ or ac1900 router. Linksys makes a great one, and so does Asus. It is good to have a nice modem, but better to have a great router.
