well, you can't 'activate' the phone without a sim card...but after you sign in with google and everything, you should be able to take the sim out and still use the phone.

i use a g1 as a backup phone. even if i don't get my sim card out of my broken/wet/lost/whatever current phone, i can still text message over wifi (through google voice/others), use all other features of the phone, and call through voip.

there ya go. :) happy torrenting.

@Gotlactose: my scammy spidey sense is tingling

@ian.g.case: same question as him. also, my workplace has a 150down 100up fibre connection....of course this is mostly for servers and such, but the main line in is damn fast.

@MacAttack: ahahahaha this is one of the funniest comments i've read in a while. +10 internets to you sir.

@skottles: i strongly recomment teleport for mac-mac.

wow...i am sooo tired of hearing people complain about not seeing AdBlock+ on every single article. lifehacker has featured it before many times... (like here, or here, or here. Or here if you really want the list.)Everyone already knows about it . just the fact that you're complaining about it not being included is

same, i've user (to some extent) Voice since Google decided i should, and it's saved me multiple times. i started as just using it for my 'work' line, but now (with the groups, and screening/voicemail options it gives you) i use it for everything. :)

unless you're hosting more than 4294967296 machines on your home network, you don't need ipv6....

if anyone is wondering, ecoute is french for listen. :)

@Who-really-cares: implying casual users don't always save their logon (login?) info so they don't have to type it.

@Brian Levinsen: haha this is a good thing, but it took me FOREVER to figure it out.
