It’s pretty clear why Ford split-off the EV division as a separate company.

Ford is doing just fine, tech-wise. They’re investing in the technology and manufacturing of EVs. Their problem, like many other uniquely American car companies, is that they’re caught up in false dealership numbers that say the average person wants a $55,000 car, ($65k average EV).

You are correct, paying cash is not always the best decision especially when the spread between borrowing and earning provides the capital for the purchase at a lower rate that what you will earn if you put the money elsewhere, but his point is one I agree with inspire of knowing it’s not an option for most people.
