Would you rather buy a 10 year old Tacoma or a 10 year old Colorado?

I do.

To be fair, it could be difficult to rent a heavy duty truck for towing real loads.  Even if you only need a half-ton, a rental pickup may not have the trailer brake controller and other stuff you want.  If towing a few times a year, I’d say the convenience is well worth owning.

I heard Mark-whiz.

It looks like it’s getting ready to eat krill.

That’s why it’s called the Malaise era.  Everyone quit giving a shit, and the public knew that the automakers were building total trash in full contempt of their market.  The 1970's hatred of the U.S. Auto buying public is what let to the Japanese getting a foot hold in the U.S. in the first place.

‘70s cars, no current show does it better than Mindhunter on Netflix.

Hey!  My sister owned a Mustang II, and, well...actually that checks out.

England in the 1970s was amazing.

Finding the Mustang II "amenable" is a sign of mental illness.

*chants from the back of the comment thread* “TA CO MA! TA CO MA!”

I looked at EVERY dealer in the Denver area. Exactly ONE had an Accord Sport 2.0T with a stick in it, and they refused to allow test drives as it was parked next to the Type-R inside the building. Every other manual listed was actually an auto.

I’ve mentioned this before, but in September I bought a 2018 Kia Forte LX (no AC) for a little over $9K USD new.  MSRP is creeping up, but real life, these things tend to just sit on the lot until they get massive discounts.

Carrying a firearm is hopefully inefficient 100% of the time. Still rather have it and not need it. Same thing here, plus many enjoy the taller driving position.

yeah my life would be a lot more expensive without a truck. well water in our area is really bad so a lot of people haul water in tanks from town. delivery of 600 gal is $81. when i haul it it is $16. wedon’t have trash service here either, so it gives me a convenient way to take trash to the dump. i also haul

You hit the nail on the head. Not everyone can or wants multiple vehicles. A truck is a great all-arounder. And while you may get better milage in a volt, when you are trying to compare a truck to a sportscar, then that argument goes away.

What crew cab mid size 4x4 truck with any decent options are you expecting to buy for $30k?  C’mon, man.

Remember trucks have 10-15,000 knocked off the price right off the bat. Cars your lucky to get 3,000 off. No one is paying close to msrp for trucks unless its a Raptor

I just don’t get the hate for trucks. Just last week I had multiple limbs down from a snow storm. After cutting them up, I made three trips to the refuse dump to get rid of them.

very, very few people can actually afford a new car outright. but new cars are a balance— used cars, especially now, seem to require more maintenance then ever before because less and less people take care of stuff. i bought a $5k ranger, which was one of the nicer rangers in that price bracket(small trucks are an
