But do we really -need- everyone employed in the first place?

So what if it doesn’t spur more people to find work? Is there some imperative that we must all slave away at jobs that may or may not respect our basic humanity? I get why certain people think there should be a work requirement for public assistance, and it has nothing to do with helping people escape poverty.

These are the people that take care of your children so you can go to work. They are all too often over worked and under paid, and living on the slimmest of margins. 

Generally, the only acceptable excuse someone could have for not paying their daycare provider is if they themselves have been financially impacted to the point where it becomes impossible. If your income hasn’t changed and you’re just pocketing the extra cash, then let me offer from the depth of my larynx a hearty,
