I know it reeks of #Im14andthisisdeep, but seriously, why does watching a race or participating in one make human life insignificant? To me, it doesn’t. Who is that commenter to decide how valuable a racer’s life is? To me, it is the racer’s choice, no one else’s.

Again, that’s your personal threshold for safety that you just came up with, it has nothing to do with what riders are willing to try, and what organizers should be held to. You literally just made up a number that you want strangers to be beholden to. Don’t watch it or participate if it is too dangerous to you.

Intentionally being obtuse is not a good look. They do take precautions, but races on public roads are inherently dangerous. There is no practical way to mitigate that danger to the a degree that would satisfy your unstated, nebulous and very personal safety criteria.
