It already is a tourist destination, just not for the US populace. Varadero has huge resorts. Countries can thrive without US trade, but it is much easier to thrive if there is US trade. The embargo and its effects let the US effectively penalize third parties that trade with Cuba.

It’s the Cuban government that is holding them back, in my opinion. They conveniently blame all of their shortcomings and problems on the U.S. embargo, which does limit their economic dealings with other countries. The U.S. freezes out countries that would otherwise do more business with Cuba.

The Cuban government will be forced to change, it will be demanded by the people, once the government doesn’t have the embargo to hang every negative aspect of the country on. What was your Cuba plan? War? A failed embargo that severely punishes and restricts regular people even longer?

For me, probably not. I’d have to ride it first obviously. For a retro standard bike, I don’t think the value is there. It would have to be better than or more on par with the street and speed triples for me to go that high.
