To be fair, Bettman is a spokesman/lawyer/negotiator/mediator for the owners. He does what the owners tell him to do and from their point of view he’s been doing a good job.

They aren’t going to move the Flames to Seattle because it’s more lucrative for them to send an expansion team there. Why send a team that’s already generating profit when you can create a new team and generate new profit.
The city’s proposal was for the Flames to own the stadium. No one wants to own the stadium, it costs too much to maintain.
Zero chance the Flames leave, call their bluff. They make money in a league where a lot of teams are losing money. They have nowhere decent to relocate to, the NHL won’t let them take a potential expansion city and the big name teams won’t let them split their territory.
I’m not even a football fan but I’ll take the Pats every time because the amount of crying over how good they are is hilarious.
“My football team is good, which I don’t control, so that makes the decisions I’ve made to get here morally justifiable”
I think that hits the nail on the head for the difference between professional CEOs and founder CEOs. There seems to be a lot of horror stories from people who worked with the likes of Musk, Jobs, Kalanick, Gates, etc. The common argument is that these guys succeeded because of their demanding, uncompromising…
It’s bullshit how the league requires its labor force to tighten their belts on sweetheart deals Durant just cut for Golden State in order for players, owners, and fans to get what they all want—the best possible team
I’m also not a cycling expert, but I have eyes. If you watch a slow motion video the elbow doesn’t come out until Cavendish is already falling and doesn’t even make contact. It looks a lot like keeping balance to me.
And walk away from your initiation fee? When you join a club like this you expect a certain level of service, especially since courses are really hurting for members right now.
It’s kick you off the course bad (depending on where you’re playing). It’s extremely bad for the greens, which are a very important part of the course to maintain. Damage aside, it can also fuck with your putt.
Completely different situation. That whistle came, at the absolutely earliest, during the follow through of the shot (IMO its actually closer to when the puck is crossing the line, but it’s impossible to tell 100%). The whistle last night was well before the puck was touched.
where Satterfield says Sharpe beat him unconscious while Tretola served as lookout.
Litigation happy companies can ruin an industry, but come on, RTIC willfully created an exact copy. Please tell me how you would react if someone ripped off your product?

It’s a harsh response but necessary. Their business hinges on people trusting electric cars.
Glancing at the top left of that screen is no different than looking down at a speedo behind the wheel. In both cases you shouldn’t be spending more than a fraction of a second doing it.
Virtually every dash is fully electronic now, whether it has a screen or not. They can all fail. The car will still be very much drivable.
Keep in mind the only actual examples you’ve seen are prototypes. They’ve said they’re going to keep the minimalism, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been improving it.
That’s not a knock on 0-60 because the same could be said for virtually any measurement at the extreme end of the spectrum. A few tenths difference is just as relevant (or irrelevant) as the small differences between top speeds or maximum power.
There’s no reason to assume it’s just going to be some wide open gaping hole. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to implement climate control and the ability to shut off certain zones.
